These centers provide education and training for high-demand careers in our region's high demand industries of Advanced Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals, Transportation/Logistics and Agribusiness.

Delta State University

Established in 1924, Delta State University (DSU) is a public institution providing a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate curriculum to more than 4,000 students. From the core disciplines such as arts, humanities, and sciences, to unique programs such as Commercial Aviation, the Delta Music Institute, and the nationally recognized Geospatial Information Technology Program, the university is committed to meeting the evolving needs of the students it serves.

  • Nearly 1,000 awards and certificates are awarded annually.
  • Students can engage with local businesses with existing and expanding internship and externship programs.
  • A Nonprofit Management concentration and certification program was recently introduced as an opportunity for students to meet the increasing need for nonprofit professionals.
  • The Delta Music Institute provides a unique opportunity for students to develop a broad range of skills in audio engineering technology and entertainment industry entrepreneurship.
  • DSU also offers a variety of online and evening continuing education programs that make it flexible and affordable for individuals already in the workforce to receive further education and obtain their degree.

Coahoma Community College

Coahoma Community College provides instruction for university-paralleled concentrations for Associate of Arts degrees and general education core classes through seven academic departments. The college also offers Career & Technical programs that are designed to prepare students to get a job immediately after graduation. The College offers industrial training based off a three-fold mission that benefits new and existing industries alike.

  • Pre-Employment Training: Customized pre-employment training is provided to applications before they are hired. This training is to prepare trainees for immediate placement in new jobs, assuring a capable and well-trained workforce
  • Post-Employment Training: Customized on-the-job training (COJT) programs are conducted after the employees have been hired. This training provides job-specific training.
  • Retraining and Upgrade Training: Customized retraining is developed for existing company employees to meet changing skill requirements caused by new technology. Upgrade training consists of courses designed to assist industry employees in advancing from one job level to another.

The historic campus of Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) offers a wide variety of academic, career and technical courses in day, evening and online classes. Programs provide students with a pathway for a four-year degree or fast track career-technical training that gets fully qualitied students into the workforce. MDCC offers workforce training, ABE/GED classes and continuing education courses for local citizens.

  • Mississippi Delta awards nearly 500 degrees and certificates annually.
  • The renowned Health Sciences Division provides students with an opportunity to obtain a high paying job in the healthcare industry following their certification.
  • At the Greenville Higher Education Center, Mississippi Delta partners with Delta State University and Mississippi Valley State University to offer students the opportunity to complete their four-year degrees in one location.
  • In addition to the main campus at Moorhead, Mississippi Delta Community College also offers classes at its off-campus sites in Greenville and Greenwood, as well as workforce training at the Charles W. Capps, Jr. Technology Center in Indianola.
